Linen from K-serials kaptures Guj bedrooms
Furnishing that copies the K-chic is pricey, but krazy fans are just loving it

Till now, smitten viewers of the K-series daily soaps on television ardently followed all the circuitous twists and turns in the never-ending plots. Now they have gone a step further and are furnishing their homes as their favourite TV stars do.Till some time back, the K-serial look was the in-thing with women copying the sarees, jewellery, bindis and accessories of the small screen divas. But now the women fans of the K-series soaps are eagerly buying bedsheets, pillow covers and bed spreads that adorn the bedrooms of their TV stars. The home furnishings market here is flooded with fine linen bedsheets, bedspreads, pillow covers and curtains that are copied from various episodes of the K- series. Rashmiben Desai, a homemaker, says, "I was very fascinated with the green and white combination of bed sheets and pillow covers which were shown in one of the episodes of 'Kyunki saas bhi…' I was thrilled when I found the same pattern in a mega store here." Though the price of these items is high, the obsession for these products among the K-series fans, especially homemakers, is as high as the TRPs of the serials. A double besheet and two-pillow cover set of a branded company costs between Rs700 to Rs800. Interestingly, there is a whole market of non-branded products too which are often a poor copy of the original and sell anywhere between Rs250 and Rs400.The designs are true to the originals shown on TV and the furnishings are even named after various serials like 'Kyunki saas bhi kabhi bahu thi', 'Kahani ghar ghar ki', 'Karam apnaa apnaa' and so on. They even have the pictures of the lead characters from the soaps printed on the covers of the furnishings.Anil Patel, a local home décor trader, says, "We have received many inquiries in the past from our customers regarding the patterns and the designs shown in various K-series soaps. Now, with many companies offering the K-series collections in the home décor section, we can satisfy our customers."There is a wide variety available. So while fans of 'Kyunki saas bhi…' can select bedsheets, pillow covers or curtains that mirror those in the serial, those who follow 'Karam apnaa apnaa' or 'Kahani ghar ghar ki' can opt for home décor shown in those soaps. Asmita Rajput, a placement executive, says, "I am a hardcore fan of 'Karam apnaa apnaa'. I was on the top of the world when my husband gifted me a set of betsheets and pillow covers that were shown in one of the episodes of the soap.
