Sweeping success for broom-sellers daughter
Lata Hingorani gets sixth rank in Vadodara city despite all odds

Emotions got the better of Gopaldas, a broom seller, when her daughter Lata, who has stood 6th in Vadodara city, said, "I want to become a chartered accountant and rid my parents of the hardships they have been combating all their life." The success story has once again proved that brilliant students are not necessarily born in rich families. Lata Hingorani, a student of Shivam Vidyalaya, comes from a lower middleclass family. She scored 89.71% without any tuition classes or much facilities.Lata, who stays with her family in a small house, managed to study regularly despite the odds. Talking to DNA, her father Gopaldas said, "I go from door to door on my bicycle selling small articles and brooms in the city. I cannot afford to provide my daughter with much facilities." He said, "Now when she has stood 5th in the city and she wants to become a CA, I will try my best to fulfil her wish."It was tough on Lata, who has been good at studies since her childhood, when she came to know that her father cannot afford class her XII tuition fees. In spite of the offers made by her teachers to guide her separately free of cost, she chose to study herself. Lata's conviction and a desire to achieve her goal helped her cause. Lata scored 98 in accountancy, 98 in statistics and in economics. Talking to DNA, she said "I concentrated a lot when schoolteachers taught. I used to revise my subjects and seek guidance whenever needed." Principal Bharatsingh Parmar said, "We tried to help Lata by not charging fees for a couple of years. We will sponsor her further studies and continue giving her guidance whenever needed."
