Kin to get riot victims remains
Police take blood samples of relatives of 4 persons killed in post-Godhra riots

Police on Thursday began the process of conducting DNA tests of family members of the four persons who were burnt alive during the post-Godhra riots at Rayania village in Santrampur taluka of Panchmahals. The police will thereafter hand over the remains of the victims to the kin. Four persons - Taiyabji Garbadavala, Zenabben Mullamithawala, Murtuzha Garbadawala, and Fathima Garbadawala -of the Bohra community had been killed by a mob in the village during the communal outrage after the Godhra incident. Police had recovered the remains of the deceased after the incident, which were sent to the forensic department. The police have now asked the family members of the victims to give their blood samples for DNA tests to match them with those of the vicitims. IO DySP JA Upadhyay said, "We have taken the blood samples of all the family members of the four victims, and will hand over the victims' remains to them later."
