Gujarat to screen Taare Zameen Par

Maulik Buch. Ahmedabad
There is good news for Aamir Khan fans in the state. After a brief controversy, the actor's latest movie, Taare Zameen Par, will be released in most theaters across the state today. On the lines of the 'Fanaa' controversy, the release of the film had faced opposition from Vadodara-based activists, demanding an apology from Khan over his comments on the Narmada issue last year. Though some theatre owners were uncertain, the movie will be screened at a majority of theaters and multiplexes in Ahmedabad. President of Multiplex Association of Gujarat, Manubhai Patel, said, "The movie is going to be screened in multiplexes of Ahmedabad."Advance booking started a day late for the movie on Thursday in city multiplexes. Uncertainty also prevailed in Vadodara where a protest was held in Wednesday against screening of the film. The Sardar Patel Group, an outfit headed by Dilip Sanghani's son Manish, had submitted a memorandum to multiplexes on Wednesday and burnt posters of the movie to stall its release. However, Sanghani was not reachable on Thursday.Fatehganj police has filed a complain against those involved in damaging the posters and has made seven arrests in the case.
