GACL eyes overseas marketing tie-up
This will help Guj Alkalies export its specialty products

Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals limited will tie up with marketing partners from European and Middle East countries for the export of anhydrous aluminium chloride. The company is in the last stages of finalising the deal with European and Middle East marketing partners.Anhydrous aluminum chloride product commonly known as fridel craft reagent is used as catalyst in various chemical reactions mainly in dyes, dyestuff, colour, agrochemicals, fine chemicals, pigments, bulk drugs and pharmaceutical industries.The company is at present concentrating on the production of the chemical at its Dahej plant. GACL is one of the few companies in India that produces high quality anhydrous aluminium chloride. “There is a great export potential for the chemical. The Dahej plant of the company produces the product with least iron content and 50% of it will be exported to European countries and Middle East. The company is planning for major marketing tie-ups with companies from Europe and Middle East,” said managing director of GACL Guruprasad Mohapatra.The current capacity of Dahej plant is around 16500 tpa.Commenting on the companys growth strategy, he said, “GACL is seriously reinventing its growth strategy by adding specialty chemicals to its production kitty. These would be high value chemicals which are in demand in the domestic market, but are currently being exported.”The company also invested Rs 120 crore for expanding its windmill project at Moti Sindhori in Kutch.The project will help the company bring down its manufacturing cost and earn carbon credits.
