Deadly haste: Five run over by trains near Vadodara
3 youths among killed in separate rail accidents

Five persons, including three youths, were run over by trains in 3 separate incidents near Vadodara on Friday. Akash Dilip Ahire (17), a resident of Bhakti apartment at Danteshwar, was working with a catering firm. The firm deputed Akash with Dhanjay Ramchandra Jadav (18) of Danteshwar and Hitesh Patil (19) at a marriage ceremony near Ranoli. They reached Ranoli at 4pm on Thursday. After their duty, the trio was walking back to Vadodara. While crossing a railway track around 11.30 pm, they were hit by Lokshakti Express which was coming from Ahmedabad. All the three youths died on the spot. In another incident, a 52-year-old man died while trying to jump the Karachiya crossing on Friday afternoon. According to Jawaharnagar police officials, Mahesh Bhatt (52), a resident of Vijaynagar on Harni road, was going to his daughter-in-law's place with his wife Mina Bhatt on a two-wheeler. The crossing was closed as a train was coming on the track. Rather than stopping for a minute, Mahesh tried to cross the tracks with his two- wheeler. Meanwhile, the train came rushing and Mahesh was smashed by it. His wife Mina fell unconscious. Mahesh was admitted to SSG Hospital, where he was declared dead by the officials. The police have registered a complaint and started investigations into the accident. In the third accident, a man died after he was run over by a train near Karjan on Friday noon. The police are yet to identify the person as his face was badly mutilated.
