Setco clutches JV with FTE
Co to focus on clutch actuation system production in the country

In what could accelerate its move into the LCV, passenger car and farming equipment segment, Setco Automotive Ltd (SAL) entered into a joint venture with Germany-based FTE for manufacture and supply of clutch actuation systems in the country.The move will also help SAL, the countrys largest manufacturer of clutches for heavy and medium commercial vehicles, to further strengthen its position in the segment. The joint venture company will be called FTE Setco AutomotiveThe company is also planning to introduce clutch with neoplastic material for the first time in India. “We are aiming to be a full range clutch system manufacturer. The JV will further strengthen our position in the medium and heavy commercial vehicle segment and at the same time help us penetrate the LCV, passenger car and farming equipment segment with new products,” said Harish Sheth, CMD Setco Automotive Ltd said.The joint venture is in the ratio of 51:49. Elaborating further Sheth said, “The joint venture will introduce neoplastic technology for clutch activation system and will replace the age old cast iron system.” Setco, is the largest manufacturer of premium quality lipe clutches for heavy and medium commercial vehicles in India. It is a tier I supplier of clutches to all major Indian commercial vehicle manufacturers with a customer base including Tata Motors, Ashok Leyland and Eicher Motors, among others. Setco has four manufacturing facilities across the globe and two in India.FTE Automotive, is a leading global manufacturer of hydraulic brake and clutch systems for passenger cars and commercial vehicles.
