MSU students seek womans cell formation

A Vadodara-based NGO, Sahiyar, and representatives of girl female students on Thursday submitted a memorandum to the MSU V-C asking him to form a sexual harassment cell as per the Supreme Court guidelines. The members of the NGO and the students also presented a copy of the apex court order.Sexual harassment of girl students at the MSU is an issue of concern specially after the Patan gangrape incident. Recently, two complaints of sexual harassment on the varsity campus came to light in the university but no action was taken by authorities concerned. The university officials have not yet formed any body which can deal with such cases in the university.Trupti Shah, one of the members of the NGO and a lecturer in MSU, said, "After the Patan incident, girl students and the staff members are highly concerned about the formation of the cell." Under the banner of the NGO, more than 1,000 students, teachers, parents and people of the city signed the memorandum and submitted it to the V-C.
