Ill marry her: Jhagadiya rape victims lover stands firm
Claims she was not the first victim of the gang that attacked them

It's a love story that will touch many a hearts on the Valentine's Day. He is witness to one of the ghastliest crimes reported in Gujarat of late - gangrape of a 16-yr old adivasi girl by 12 local goons. Vipul Patel, boyfriend of the Jhagadiya rape victim was attacked upon and thrashed till he was rendered unconscious on the fateful evening of February 2. Two hours later his shattered and injured girl-friend woke him upto a nightmarish reality. However, Vipul has decided to give the best possible gift to his girlfriend - love and care for her. He has only re-affirmed his love for her and decided to marry her. "I will not break my relationship with her, so what if she has been gangraped. I want to marry and look after her," says Vipul. As the police has arrested only four of the 12 accused the helplessness and frustration is writ large on the boy's face. Waiting to see the rest behind bars, Vipul who is a contractual worker at a factory in nearby GIDC says, "They kicked me so hard in the stomach, I remained unconscious for couple of hours." Vipul had proposed her a year back, to which she had responded favourably.The couple was going to her school to attend a school programme. Recounting the incident he says, "We were going for the annual function of her school, but there was some time so we went for a drive and we were going towards Khandubhai Tekri. Suddenly 12 persons staying at Rakha Falia came rushing and they forcibily held her and took her on the bike, while the others started beating me and took me on a bike near the Mission ground." Breaking down while narrating the incident, he says, " I tried a lot to rescue her and myself, but I could not overpower the gang. They tied me to a tree, and started beating me up. All of them first ran for 50 meters and kicked me in the stomach with their steel-toe shoes and then they carried her away in the bushes. Due to the darkness no one could see the act. I tried hard to rescue myself and save her from the devils, but I could not…"He had regained consciousness when the victim came to his rescue. He droped her to her residence and then went to his house."
