Cops swing into action, find nothing suspicious from premises

Bomb hoaxes at various schools across Vadodara put terrorised Barodians on tenterhooks on Wednesday. Many schools sent home their students early while some remained shut as a precautionary measure. In the morning, school authorities of Bright School on VIP road were flooded with calls from parents who were scared about rumours that bombs had been planted on the school premises. Following this, police officials were called in. The cops rushed to the school along with dog and bomb squads. They checked every nook and corner of the school building, but found nothing suspicious. After this, the police received a call from the Utkarsh Vidyalay about a possible bomb ready to tick off on its campus. The team swung into action and laid the fears to rest after it searched the area thoroughly. Talking to media persons,DCP Gagandeep Gambhir said, "Nothing suspicious was found from the two schools." Soon after news about bomb hoax at the two schools, similar rumours in various schools started doing rounds. Bomb hoax at dozen of schools paralysed the academic functioning. The hoax left many parents highly traumatized and in the grip of fright. Geeta Shah, a parent, said, "I picked up my daughter early from school as there were rumours that a bomb had been placed in the toilet." Rajiv Mehta, another parent, said, "I did not send my children to school because of the bomb rumours. I am not going to send them for another 2-3 days." Many parents also went to meet the school authorities to check what measures are being taken by the school authorities to ensure security of their wards. "I did not send my son to school but since I am a member of parents' teachers association, I did go with my husband to see what the school is doing for security. I am satisfied by the way it is getting the search and inspection done," said Ria Verma. She said, "I feel all schools should remain closed for a couple of days as children are terribly scared."
