The anti-paedophilia paintings which were displayed at MSU's faculty of fine arts have evoked mixed reactions. Some said the artworks bordered on obscenity while others appreciated the profound creativity in them. A series of paintings by a student of Applied Arts Parshuram alias Ram Wagh tried to depict that child abusers hide within priestly ranks. Parshuram said, "I tried to convey an ill prevalent in the society through my work titled 'Every saint is not a saint'. My aim was to dispel the wrong notions that people cling to." Some faculty members, on the condition of anonymity, said, "The students try to portray a problem in their works. The ill that Parshuram tried to illustrate is grave indeed. He tried to pass a sarcastic remark on those who are involved in this nasty act." Social worker Sandhya Bhagat said, "News of child molestation by religious leaders has been covered time and again by the media. Parshuram tried to raise a very serious issue. However, the way he depicted it in his works was obscene. It will be better if they do not put such type of works on display for public viewing. Better keep them for academic purpose only."
