Maulik Buch. Vadodara
District collector of the Panchmahals, Milind Toravane, reportedly received a letter from the Indian Mujahideen threatening to explode bombs at Godhra and various locations of the district before August 15. The letter written in Hindi was received by the collector through post. The collector, however, refused to share with this newspaper a copy of the threat letter. After the serial bomb blasts in Ahmedabad and recovery of bombs in Surat, now the Indian Muhjadeen seems to be targeting Godhra. Written in Hindi, the letter said: "What we have done in Ahmedabad and Surat will be unleashed at Godhra and the Panchmahals. A serial bomb blast will be carried out at Godhra and other places of the Panchmahals. By doing this, we will punish the kafirs." Talking to DNA, the collector said, "We have received a letter through post which states a series of bomb blasts will be carried out at various places in Godhra and the Panchmahals. On receiving the letter, we informed the DSP and other senior officials. We have started scrolls on cable TV channels, asking people to keep away from suspicious objects and unclaimed articles. This is a precautionary measure." Toravane revealed that during preliminary investigation, it was found that the letter was posted at the main post office of Godhra. "We have sent the letter for examination at forensic science laboratory," he pointed out. In the wake of terror attacks looming large over the state, the Panchmahals police have taken the threat seriously. A team has been deputed to probe the matter. However, senior police officials refused to comment on the investigation.
