The local traders called a bandh on the first day of Chaitra Navaratri at the Pavagadh shrine on Sunday causing inconvenience to pilgrims. The strike was called off after a meeting with the officials of the administration. The traders observed the strike to protest against the apathy of the administration towards their problems. There was a heavy rush of pilgrims at Pavagadh on the first day of Chaitra Navaratri. The holy shrine of Goddess Mahakali is among the 51 shakti peeths in India. Pilgrims from various parts of Gujarat had come to visit and offer prayers on the occasion of Navaratri today. But they had to face problems as the small traders of Machi (on way to Pavagadh) and traders supplying food, water and other worship materials to pilgrims, called for a bandh.Hardik Sendhva, a pilgrim, said, "I have come from Godhara with my family for the pilgrimage. We are thirsty and hungry, but we are not getting a single water bottle or cold drinks or not even a packet of biscuits." A trader said, "Our shop's licence has not been renewed. The place where we are trading since years have not been regularized by the administrative officials due to which we are not getting electric connection. In spite of regular follow-ups, the administrative officials are not listening to the demands of the traders and so finally we had to call a bandh." As soon as the administrative officials received the complaints from the pilgrims, they rushed to the spot and held a meeting with the local traders. Collector Milind torvane also reached Machi. After a long discussion, the officials assured the traders of resolving their problem. Following this, the traders called off the strike and opened their shops at 4.30pm.
